Drabble #03

Once upon a time, there was a girl who always carried a jar, and inside, trapped a little fairy who looked a lot like her. It wasn't a bright and colorful fairy like the ones described in fairy tale stories. That fairy was colored in black.

"You're sad again," the black fairy said. "Didn't I tell you to let me be the one to handle this?"

"No, I can't," the little girl said. "My parents told me not to let you out."

"So, you're just letting them stomp on you?" the black fairy said. "You know, we're friends, right? Don't you trust me?" the fairy added. "Friends were supposed to trust each other, correct?" the fairy was trying to manipulate the little girl but the girl was so innocent and oblivious about the dark fairy's intention. "Now, free me so I can help you.,"

"You need my help, didn't you?" the black fairy said, hiding that grin forming on her lips. "Aren't you tired of being treated like that? How long can you keep up?"

The little girl remained silent -- so silent that you could hear a hairpin drop. After a while, the little girl sighed and said, "No, I can't let you out."

"Can you at least tell me why?" the fairy asked.

"My parents said that you'll just wreak havoc," she started. "My parents said that you were born out of people's hatred who once seek revenge on those who gave heavy taxes on them" the girl explained.

The fairy's face darkened for a while, but then, she sighed. "Don't believe in your parent's words. Not everything they say is true, remember that. What if they are just tricking you? If you let me out, we can be best of friends and I will never leave you. I am going to protect you from any harm caused by humans."

"Are you sure you're not going to do anything bad?" the little girl hesitantly asked.

"Yes, I am not going to do anything bad," the fairy said. "You should know that because you and I are one. We were twins who are born out of revenge, aren't we?" the fairy added, "And you know that the parents you're talking about are nothing but an illusion."
